What is Endocrinology?

Endocrinology is a field of medicine focusing on the endocrine system, which is comprised of a complex group of organs, called glands that exist throughout the body. These glands secrete hormones directly into the bloodstream that in turn, control activities in your body such as metabolism, maintenance of blood sugar and blood pressure, growth, reproduction as well as other functions.  When an imbalance or disorder exists within the endocrine system, a well-trained Endocrinologist is required to effectively and efficiently evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage endocrine conditions.
